On 26 September 2013, a transport ship struck the bottom chord of the Mathews Bridge which crosses the St Johns River in Jacksonville, FL, Duval County. The impact was severe and the bridge, a main artery in Jacksonville, was closed for repair for approximately a month as FDOT scrambled to quickly facilitate repairs.

Under contract to FDOT through RS&H Engineers, Arc Surveying performed hydrographic and terrestrial laser scan surveys of the damage and 1st order leveling across the bridge, monitoring potential movement. Within hours of the incident Arc mobilized to the site with three survey crews providing FDOT with on the job structural monitoring reports. Arc and other consultants involved received letters of commendation from the district commending each for their part in helping to restore the bridge to traffic in an expeditious manner.
